So you want to know more about me, the crazy fruitarian chick. All right.
I’m a sixteen year-old social introvert with strange eating habits. Yes, ladies and gents, I eat only raw (or occasionally dehydrated) fruits, vegetables, and greens. Though I’m not perfect all the time (wait, what?) I aim for at least 80% of my calories to come from carbs, 10% from protein, and no more than 10% from fat.
So what does that look like in an average day? I might have a 7-8 cup banana smoothie for breakfast, a bag of oranges for lunch, another smoothie for dinner, a date snack, and a large salad for later. Of course there’s variation; zucchini pasta instead of the salad, or maybe a large bowl of soup - or copious amounts of whatever’s in season for my three main meals.
I’ve been exclusively raw vegan since January 2011, and vegetarian since December 2006. Since going raw vegan, I’ve noticed overwhelmingly good results, including, but not limited to: almost 25 pounds lost (and counting), clearer skin, more energy, being happier in general, and just feeling better about myself.
I live half my life in Pittsburgh, where I frequent the local co-op, libraries, and museums, and explore Frick Park (when it’s warm enough). The other half is spent in the jungles of Hawaii, where I live in a low-fat raw vegan intentional community. There I spend my days weeding the garden, picking exotic fruit, and biking up and down the coastal roads.
Contrary to what you may have been lead to believe by what you’ve already read, my life does not always revolve around diet. I also enjoy listening to music (hipster music, for all you laymen), being active, blowing glass, learning languages (French first, then Gaelic?), reading books, watching movies, playing games, trying my best to be artistic, and looking sadly at my scanty wardrobe.
If you have any questions about my diet that were not answered here, feel free to ask! Unless you happen to be a juicy peach, I most likely won’t bite you.
